ARTWORK
Public Art:
Council Bluffians enjoy an amazing, unique Public Art program.
Studios and Galleries:
Council Bluffs is home to many talented artisans covering a variety of artistic fields and disciplines.
The Harvester Artist Lofts project is transforming the historic International Harvester warehouse at 1000 S. Main Street in downtown CB into a 36-unit residential building designed to meet the space needs of creative individuals and their families.
The downtown Omni Centre Business Park has the largest J.Doe Collection in Council Bluffs.
MOVIES & BOOKS
Movie Rental:
DVDs can be rented at Redbox locations around the city and at the local public library.
Netflix:
The Council Bluffs metro area is a Netflix distribution point, so Netflix movies arrive very quickly through the mail.
Cable:
Basic Cable and Digital Cable are available throughout Council Bluffs along with channels such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, and Encore.
AMC Cinema:
AMC Cinema is a large 16-screen multiplex motion picture venue in Council Bluffs that shows the most recent films. And in case you are wondering, films with GLBT content including Milk, Brokeback Mountain, and TransAmerica are screened without anyone batting an eyelash. AMC Cinema has added an IMAX Theater (gigantic screen) to its multiplex.

Comic Books:
Comic City has two locations in Council Bluffs which carry an excellent variety of graphic novels and comic books. Kanesville Kollectibles also carries comic books.
Videogame Rental and Sales:
Videogames are rented and sold at Comic City and Blockbuster. CD Tradepost and GameStop buy, trade, and sell new and/or used videogames, while new ones can be purchased at Target and Wal-Mart in Council Bluffs.
Council Bluffs Public Library:
The beautiful downtown Council Bluffs Public Library has a GLBT-inclusive collection of books and movies to borrow.
INTERNET
Dial-Up and Broadband:
Both dial-up and broadband Internet access are available to Council Bluffs residents.
Wi-Fi:
Picturesque downtown region around the Historic 100 Block of West Broadway over to Bayliss Park, City Hall, and the Council Bluffs Public Library has free wireless (Wi-Fi) internet service. Thanks to a partnership with Google, Council Bluffs is gradually expanding its free Wi-Fi service into other areas of the city.
PLAYS & MUSICALS
Chanticleer Theater:
Chanticleer is an excellent community theater in Council Bluffs. You'll find plenty of GLBT and allied talent among the production casts and crews. Chanticleer is moving into the new artspace being constructed in the downtown area.
The Arts Center at Iowa Western Community College:
The Iowa Western Community College Theatre department stages wonderful productions at The Arts Center in east Council Bluffs. For instance, their production of Cabaret had an exhibit in the lobby about GLBT life in pre-World War II Berlin. The Arts Center also hosts a variety of professional vocal, dance, and instrumental performances throughout the year.

Ameristar is a big casino and hotel complex built around a docked riverboat along the riverfront in Council Bluffs.
Harrah's:
Harrah's is a large hotel-casino complex constructed around a docked riverboat along the riverfront in Council Bluffs.
Horseshoe:
The Horseshoe is a large inland casino in Council Bluffs just a short distance from the two riverfront casinos.
CONCERTS
Bayliss Park Concerts:
Concerts are held outdoors at Bayliss Park in downtown Council Bluffs.
Stir Concert Cove:
The Stir Cove is a live entertainment outdoor performance area that holds 2,500+ concert goers at Harrah's Casino.
Whiskey Roadhouse:
The Whiskey Roadhouse is a 500-seat live entertainment venue and bar at Horseshoe Casino.
Westfair Amphitheater:
The outdoor Westfair Amphitheater lands big name talent for concerts.
Mid-America Center:
The Mid-America Center (MAC) is a large municipal convention center and performance venue in Council Bluffs that brings in events like rock concerts and hockey matches.
FESTIVITIES
Here are some events in Council Bluffs.
Celebrate CB:
This May festival is the Council Bluffs Community Pride Week including a city parade.
Music & Movies in the Park:
This free series of events from late Spring to early Fall brings movies and live music to downtown Bayliss Park.
Main Street Market:
Every Thursday from late Spring to Fall is the outdoor Main Street Market at the corner of South Main Street & 9th Avenue.
Jam and Bread
Thursdays 1PM - 4PM drop-in to hear local musicians play at the Western Historic Trails Center in southwest Council Bluffs.
Fireworks:
The 4th of July Harrah's Hotel & Casino in west Council Bluffs puts on a huge spectacular riverside fireworks display.
Westfair:
Late July the West Pottawattamie County Fair attracts visitors from Council Bluffs and the surrounding area.
